Audrey Gardiner Kruse, age 91, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2015 at Gracewood of Highland Park, St. Paul. After decades of surviving serious health issues, she was unable to overcome her failing heart. She was born September 1, 1924 in Fresno, CA, the only child of Andrew (Jack) and Mabel (Colburn) Gardiner, moving to Minnesota at age 2. A graduate of Washburn High School in Minneapolis, she married Robert F. Kruse on September 4, 1943. Audrey was independent, feisty and direct, collected friends and cherished those from her childhood. An amazing artist, she sewed, painted, crafted and created heirloom quality pieces. She loved to cook and entertain, travel to England, Holland and Mexico, and lived for 65 years in the cozy Richfield home she and Bob built in 1948. She was dedicated to her church, her faith, and her family. Survivors include children Peggy Twait, Richard (Kay) Kruse, and Barbara Kruse; grandchildren Erik (Melissa) Twait, Heidi Twait Lozano, and Peter Kruse; great-grandchildren Jack Twait, Ava Twait and Alexander Lozano. Preceded in death by her husband in 2007 and her parents. Memorial service at 11:00 am on November 21, 2015, Knox Presbyterian Church, 4747 Lyndale Ave S, Minneapolis, with visitation one hour prior. Luncheon to follow the service. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred to HealthPartners Hospice, Knox Presbyterian Church, or donor's choice.
