100% Pure Swiss Life-Long West Ender. Our Hero started his new journey on Saturday, 1-1-11, when he passed away from complications from a massive stroke that he had on Christmas Day 2009. He fought hard to come back and he finally came home on July 3, 2010. He is survived by Charlotte, his beloved wife of 64 years. Loving and devoted daughter, Jodelle & son, Mark. Grandchildren Aimee & Kelsey, special granddaughter MeganElise and his only grandson Nicholas Charles; great grandsons Cameron & Elijah; special nephew Tim Gillespie and his wife Diane. Faithful companions, Opey, Lulubell, Sadie & Jake; many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by son, Charles Jr.; daughter, Sharon Marie; sister, Elise & parents Charles and Elise Ritter. Proudly served in WWII U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne 517th division- Battle of the Bulge. He was a selfless, caring man who didn't speak poorly of anyone. He was a loving husband, caring father & "gramps" & favorite "unc" who will be greatly missed and loved forever. Courageous throughout, he remained strong until the end. He is no longer in pain or suffering, our warrior has gone home. A special thank you to his friend and caregiver Jean Claude, who with out his help, bring and keeping dad home would never have been possible. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday 11 AM at ST. FRANCIS DE SALES CATHOLIC CHURCH (Palace & Osceola). Visitation Tuesday 4-8 at KESSLER & MAGUIRE 640 W 7th St. 651-224-2341. Visitation also 1 hr prior to mass at church. Interment immediately following at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers memorials preferred. A longtime member of the St. Francis Casinos mens club, VFW # 6210 and the Swiss Society.
