David Earl Truitt

David was born in St Paul MN to Earl and Carol Truitt. He graduated from St. Paul Open School in 1979. He joined the US Navy in 1980 and actively served through 1985, transferring to the Naval Reserves until the end of his career. 

He worked as an equipment mechanic for the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis for 30 years, retiring in 2020. 

He had many interests and hobbies and was always busy working on them, often several at once.  He was creative and artistic, with a love of learning and discovery. He loved the outdoors, boating, camping and hunting.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cassie Sweeney-Truitt, as well as an aunt and uncle, many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Carol and brother Paul. 

He will be deeply and forever missed.

David’s celebration of life will be held in the Oak Room at Sweeney’s Saloon at 96 Dale St in St. Paul on September 3 from 2:00-5:00 PM.
