Dennis Ruppert

Dennis Joseph Ruppert was born in Tracy, Minnesota on September 8, 1950 to Henry and Mary (Gaul) Ruppert. He grew up on a farm in Shetek Township in Murray County. Dennis attended Sunrise country school and Currie IHM Catholic school. He finished his schooling in Tracy, MN.

He moved to St. Paul where he worked as a janitor with St. Joseph’s Hospital for over 30 years, retiring at age 58. He was also a particularly good cook and spent time as a prep cook at Sweeny’s.

Dennis loved sports and was a faithful fan of the Vikings, Gophers, and Twins. His Catholic faith was very important to him. He enjoyed attending church services and family gatherings, playing cards and bingo, and meeting up with friends. He appreciated and reciprocated friendships with many in his residence. He participated in delivering food, sharing coffee, and gathering for potlucks. He was always ready with a smile and open hands to help.

Dennis died December 20, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Mary Ruppert, infant sister Carol, sister Betty (Tony) Ockenfels, and niece Carol (Jerry) Elliott. He is survived by his sister, Doris (Laddie) Carda of Slayton, MN and many nieces and nephews.

Special mention to Ramsey County, Regency Home Care, friends at Humboldt, and his niece Kathleen and her husband Chuck Linderkamp of Minneapolis for their helping hands to support Dennis living an independent life. He enjoyed every minute of it!

A funeral mass will be held at 11am on Thursday, December 30th at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 510 Hall Ave, St Paul, MN 55107. Visitation is available at 10. Light refreshments after. All are welcome. Masks are recommended. Interment at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery in Currie, MN will be held at a later date. A celebration of life will be held in the spring when we can all gather together and share happy memories.
