Hazel Thala Fox, age 92, died peacefully Monday August 31, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul.
Hazel was born August 24, 1917 in Veteran, Alberta Canada. She married Carl Weldon Fox on January 3, 1934, at the young age of 16. Their marriage would be blessed with 4 children, Evelyn, Carol, Carl and David. Hazel and Carl farmed for many years at which time Hazel was also a nurse’s aide. Hazel and Carl moved to St. Paul in 1962 when Carl took a job as an engineer for an asphalt company and Hazel was employed for many years at the Pearson Candy Factory in St. Paul. When Carl passed away in 1973, Hazel’s faith in the Lord blossomed and she began studying the Bible and spreading the Lord’s word. Hazel was always a part of her grandchildren’s lives and she is remembered for her love of crafts and the time spent at the cabin on Ottertail Lake in Northern Minnesota. She is remembered by her family with many smiles as she is truly home now.
Hazel is lovingly survived by her sons Carl (Sheila) Fox of Albuquerque, NM and David Fox of St. Paul; 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Carl and daughters Evelyn and Carol; also by her siblings and other beloved family members.
