Helgi Michelson, wife of prominent architect Val Michelson, died Saturday March 1, 2008. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Eric, her husband Valerius, and her parents Eduard and Amanda Johanson. She is survived by her sister Silva Pool, niece Linda and nephew Raivo. She had been living with and lovingly cared for by Andre and Nadia Michelson at their home. Helgi was born November 6, 1921 in Vandra, Estonia. Her father, a pharmacist, was executed by the Russian Communist in 1941. She attended the University of Tartu. After fleeing the Russian Army, she met Val in a displaced persons camp in Munich, Germany in 1947. They married and immigrated to the US in 1949. Helgi loved the classics and studying ancient history. She wrote poetry and authored two books including "Angel Maker" in 1976.
