Joseph G. "Joey" Maidl October 23, 1941 – October 30, 2024
With profound sadness, we share the passing of Joseph “Joey” G. Maidl, a cherished uncle, loyal friend, and valued member of his community. Joey departed this life on October 30, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and countless treasured memories.
Born to Joseph and Helen Maidl on October 23, 1941, Joey’s life was filled with adventure and service. He began his career with the City of St. Paul Public Works Department before pursuing his culinary passions as a chef aboard Mississippi River boats and at the Fort Snelling Club.
In 2003, Joey joined Friends of the 261, where he found immense joy in serving others and building lasting friendships. His dedication to the organization was marked by his boundless energy, heartfelt storytelling, and an infectious smile that brought light to every room he entered. Joey had a remarkable gift for connecting with people of all ages, leaving an indelible mark on everyone he met.
Joey’s vibrant spirit and unwavering generosity were a constant source of inspiration to his family, friends, and his second family, the Camerons. He will be deeply missed by his loving niece and nephew, Rebecca and Bret Maidl, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Helen Maidl, his brother David, and his sister Rita.
Services will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, (398 Superior Street, St. Paul, MN 55102) at 11AM with a visitation 1 hour prior.
