Lawrence Raasch

Lawrence Allen Raasch, also known as Larry, dad, and grandpa, passed away unexpectedly in his home on December 9, 2024 at the age of 77. 

Larry volunteered for both St. Paul and West St. Paul Police Reserves, giving over 50 years of dedicated service to both communities. He was active as a leader in Boy Scout troop 222. He had also been known to be seen driving a school bus, school van, or coach bus across the state and directing traffic at the Minnesota State fair. He worked many jobs including St. Paul Public Schools from which he retired. Larry was an active member at St. Mark’s ELCA church before its recent closing and most recently became a member at St. Luke’s ELCA church. He often volunteered for church events and responsibilities. Larry was born to Ladell (Niles) Raasch and Embert Raasch on September 28, 1947 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He lived in the twin cities area his entire life and was passionate about community. He attended Monroe High School, Marshall Jr. High, and Jefferson Elementary in St. Paul. Larry served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany as a medic during the Vietnam War. 

He is preceded in death by his mother and father and brother Doug Raasch. 

He is survived by his sister LeAnn (Tommy) Mahoney, sister in law Joan (Douglas) Raasch, daughters Lisa McDermott and Lori Wall, and grandchildren Christopher, Jason, Katelynn, Charlie, Megan, and Jillian.

A visitation will be held at Kessler Maguire Funeral Home (640 West 7th St., St. Paul, MN 55201) from 4PM-7PM on December 16th, 2024. A memorial service will be held at St. Luke's Lutheran Church (1807 Field Ave, St Paul, MN 55116) on December 17th, 2024 at 11AM with a visitation one hour prior.
