Leonard Joseph Tiemann was born on December 8, 1926 in Melrose, MN to Bernard and Elizabeth Tiemann. His father Ben emigrated from Germany at 7 years of age and the family homesteaded north of Melrose. Ben fought in World War I against his German cousins in the Battle of the Argonne. Leonard left school in 1944 and joined the Navy to serve in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was on the USS PCE 899. After WW II he finished his education at Melrose High School and Dunwoody Institute. He worked with Deluxe Check Printers for 35 years. Len was proud of his service to his country and was active in VFW Post 7050 in Melsorse. He is preceded in death by loving wife Terry. He is survived by brothers George (Lorraine), Walt (Trinka), and General Edmund (Gerry) Tiemann; 9 children, 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and many loving relatives and friends.
