Stephen L. Hubbard was born December 15, 1937 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to parents Janet and J Hubbard. He passed away peacefully in his Saint Paul, Minnesota home surrounded by family and his faithful companion, Fritz.
In his youth, Stephen was active in the arts, even appearing as a crooner on television in the mid 1950's. After high school he began racing and collecting sports cars, a love that endured over the course his lifetime.
Shortly after high school he also joined the Air Force, spending over 25 years in service of his country and rising to the rank of Master Sergeant. As a Bronze Star recipient for action in Vietnam, he spent much of his military life traveling the world, stationed in Germany, England, and Spain as well as many cities across the United States. After retiring from the Air Force, he spent additional years in Turkey and East Africa working for a subsidiary of Haliburton before settling down in Charleston, South Carolina and finally returning to his family roots in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
He loved to laugh and was generous to all that knew him, especially his children whom he loved very much. He had four siblings: J (Mac), Anne, Connie and Jamie. He will be deeply missed by his children Elizabeth, Harold, David, Catherine and step-daughter Semera, as well as his beloved grandchildren Jonathan, Gabe, Connor, Ebony, Natashia, and Brittany, in addition to his eight wonderful great grandchildren.
He loved his country and always remembered his blessings, praying daily:
“Lord I shall be very busy this day
I may forget thee
but do not thou forget me”
